Gay People Are Less Happy?

by Mary Malia

Are “gay” people less happy?

What do you think?

A study by the Pew Institute says we’re pretty unhappy. But interestingly, straight people didn’t show up as being that much happier overall either.

I’m curious, what do you think? Check out this video and leave a comment. Tell me, do you feel this way?

In a world were it’s not always ok to be out and lesbian, gay, bi or trans, it’s possible you struggle with feeling ok or feeling safe.

I meet many women through this site who are trying to figure out how to come out, in their teens, twenties, thirties, forties, fifties, sixties and yes in their seventies.  Many individuals still struggle with coming out and  believing they will still be loved and accepted.  Pew Institute notes that American society is the least accepting of gays when compared to other western society. That’s a very sad fact.

In a country where the pursuit of happiness is written into our first legal documents, what a sad fact. And one that makes many LGBT people feel less than safe and less than accepted in the world. And let’s not forget that many of us face outright discrimination and violence simply because we are different.

It’s my goal that you find this to be a safe and accepting place.

Gay people are less happy?

Getting happy is a decision you have to make for yourself. To live your best life. To create happiness in spite of what the world puts in front of you.

And if you need some happiness inspiration, check 24 hours of “Happy” the song by Pharrell Williams.

Then get up off your butt, get up off your couch and move! Dance. Get a groove on. Get happy. Move a muscle, change a thought and happy can be created. I dare you! Come on, get gay, really really gay!
