Do you need relief from fear?
Does fear find you at night and strangle you awake with panic?
Or in the morning does it hit you with anxiety and nausea?
Does fear tell you that you’ll never find love and relationship?
Or maybe it whispers that you’ll always be broke and a loser?
Or does fear tell you with a raspy voice that you’re too old, don’t even bother to try. Don’t bother to dream.
The voice of fear feels so strong and powerful and believable doesn’t it?
Fear is like a big sucking sound. It comes up from behind and sucks all the juicy goodness out of your life. It turns the world dark and we forget what amazing creatures we are.
I know fear. I’ve known this voice in all it’s bigness and I’ve discovered how to turn down the volume on fear and to wake up faith and hope and happiness to overcome it. And I want to share how to do this with you.
Fear is like a virus that infects our lives. It starts small and can become totally debilitating. It’s biggest power is that it cuts us off from love. We become disconnected from the source of all life and goodness – love. We forget that there is always love available for us.
We tense up. We stop breathing. We disconnect from our hearts and get trapped with fear in our mind and its imaginations. That creates feelings that we want to run from like being trapped, overwhelmed, full of anxiety and above all without help or love.
Fear makes us feel desparately alone.
I want to help you find the path out and find healing and peace.
So here’s the path out of fear and it only takes a minute:
1) Look around wherever you are in the world. What can you see that is clearly a part of nature and that is abundant?
Perhaps its trees, the ocean, a lake or pond, a flock of hundreds of crows flying over your city or a single sparrow pecking at at an insect on the ground, maybe it’s the desert or mountains… perhaps it is a city lot that is full of weeds that are flowering. Farm land. Perennial gardens. Vegetable gardens. A potted flower in your window. A bowl of fruit on the table.
Is the sun shining? Or is it raining? It’s all a gift of love.
Nature is everywhere. She is abundant and generous and the most enormous expression of love available to all of us. At the very least look up and see the sky, the clouds, the moon and stars. One of the biggest parts of this earth that we can all see simply by looking up.
Let yourself see and feel the goodness of nature. It’s expression of unlimited love being freely given. Now say this to yourself (its a form of prayer):
“Nature is showing me the love that is always available for me.
Nature is an expression of unlimited love.
I am grateful that unlimited love is available for me.”
2) Now with that image of nature and the thought of it’s goodness, put your hand on your heart.
3) Close your eyes and breathe in deeply and slowly and then release that breathe slowly.
4) While you are breathing, see that breathe going into your heart and surrounding your heart.
5) Connect the goodness of nature to the goodness of your own heart. Your heart is full of goodness and unlimited love just like that bird or weed or plant or the sky. Let yourself feel it.
6) Your heart is full of love for you. Let yourself feel the love that is in your heart. Really let yourself feel it. Breathe into that love. See your heart full of love.
7) Do this at least three times slowly. It only takes a minute.
Now how do you feel? Different? Is there relief from the level of fear you’ve known?
Breathing into love is the antidote to fear. Letting love expand in our hearts, sort of like the Grinch right? Fear has no room in a heart that is breathing love.
This is a simple but very powerful process to move you out of fear and into love. This love is always available to you. It is in your own heart. It is a healing meditation process that is simple, powerful and easy.
Write down these simple steps on a piece of paper or index card. Or create a note in your cellphone to go back too. Then when you feel fear coming to visit, grab your note or index card and breathe into your heart again.
Do you know someone who would be helped by this exercise? Then share this page with her. Share the gift of love that you found here. Live your best lesbian life and share the goodness.
And perhaps you’d share here a comment to let me and others know how “heart breathing” impacted you. Thanks!
Sending love, peace, grace and happiness to you,

Mary, how lovely!!
Someone once said to me, that no-one’s going to love me until I love myself, which is a bit of a vicious circle really! Your meditation is the other side to that coin … how to draw on that love I have for myself!!
I was invited to a Sangha the other day, to do some Buddhist meditation. I made a decision that evening, after hearing what was said, that I need to allow my joy to flourish. Your constant messages of encouragement are helping me to fulfil that.
Thank you again, so much!!
Hi Jacqui,
It looks like the universe is showing up with a consistent message for you! First love self well then finally love other well. Thanks for sharing. Hugs, Mary
